Charvel Model 3R (Blue Crackle) - $850- SOLD!!!

Filed Under (Charvel, x- SOLD -x) by Importstrings on 08-02-2012

An ALL ORIGINAL Model 3RR (Reverse neck) in VERY CLEAN condition. These models are alot rarer than the Model 3DR which, came with 1XHumbucker and a single slant pick-up at the neck. The Model 3R has the standard Model 3 lay out with a cut-away back and reverse neck. There weren’t alot of these produced!! This guitar looks awesome. If your a crackle collector? A must for the collection!!

As mentioned in really nice condition and has been well maintained. VERY light pick scratching (Players ware) Hardware mega-clean, 80% plus frets, only 1x laquar only chip to the back edge (touched up) and almost unoticable. Other than that, VERY close to mint Con. These guitars still to this day make an impact when seen live, they just look great and have the balls to back it up! I laugh when I see the OVER PRICED Fender owned Charvels of today, these older models sound just as good and are alot more striking visually (My opinion anyway).

Charvel Model-4 (Shop Original) - $850- SOLD!!!

Filed Under (Charvel, x- SOLD -x) by Importstrings on 08-08-2011

This all original Model-4 is a Semi-Order, Ikebe Shop Original from 1987!! Shop Original models are rarely seen these days and dont come up for sale that often. At the time some of the bigger musical instrument stores in Japan brought out their own original models, EG. Matching heads, Graphics (Mega-Rare), Artist series with the likes of Jake E.Lee, Gary Moore, Alan Holdsworth, George Lynch etc… These models are interesting to collect and are always sought after by collectors outside of Japan.

The most AMAZING thing about this guitar is the condition!!! The previous owner of this guitar has looked after it very well. This is a 24yr old guitar that has been hardly played at all and properly maintained, it looks amazing. There is almost no ware to the hardware or frets, the body has VERY light players ware, a little scuff on the back plate other than that its like mint condition. A VERY rare find!!

It came in a non original soft case BUT if your after an original soft case we can find them no problems.

Neck : 1pc Maple
Fingerboard : 22 jumbo fret, Rosewood w/Pearl sharktooth inlay & matching head

Charvel Model-1 - $600- SOLD!!

Filed Under (Charvel, x- SOLD -x) by Importstrings on 11-03-2011

An all original Model-1! Believe it or not, these models are geting quite scarce as the years go by. There is a couple of reasons why, One being that there very robust guitars with that BIG Model series sound and sadly this model suffers the most, as players want that neck.

In alot of cases this model is purchased for its neck alone. It takes very little time and $$ to fit a lock nut to the neck and they slip straight onto a Model 3 or 4.
Many Charvel Model series collectors would love to get a Model-4M (Maple neck) but, they are VERY hard to get hold of and this is an easy alternative.

The Model-1 is in great playing/appearance. Big J90c sound, frets are at 70%, a couple of VERY SMALL laquer ONLY dings, the predictable pick scratching and some light scratching to the back (The average players ware). Overall condition is very good for a now 24yrs old guitar. Abit of a buff for the fussy would bring it back to almost mint. These are awesome, sturdy little rockers with with a huge sound to boot.

Body : Solid Basswood
Neck : 1p Maple
Fingerboard : 22 Jumbo fret,Maple w/clay dot inlay
Bridge : Traditional 3-spring fulcrum tremolo
Pick-ups : 1 J-90c Ultra-High output humbucker
Controls : 1 Volume
Hardware Colour : Black
Colour : Vintage Ivory

Charvel Limited Model-88 (No.679) - $1,000 - Sold!!

Filed Under (Charvel, x- SOLD -x) by Importstrings on 10-12-2010

This is without doubt the most sought after Charvel by collectors of the Model series “The Charvel Model-88″. These days this guitar is usually only seen in collections, finding and or buying one is almost impossible. The collectors who have them VERY RARELY part with them. Its not uncommon to see this model go for well over $1000US, they are just that sought after!! There is also a pretty interesting story surounding the Model-88.

Just like the Limited Edition Jackson 88 models, the Charvel-88 was limited to only 1000pcs (All numbered) but due to a warehouse fire it is estimated that 50%~60% of the stock was lost, So there isn’t that many out there and the serial numbers are all over the place.

Another reason is there striking appearance. Unlike other Model series, this is the only Mahogany model and not your average Mahogany. This is the banned African Ribbon Mahogany, a rare Mahogany to find on guitars. Like all Mahoganys they darken over time, African Ribbon Mahoganys dark striped grain really darkens leaving the lighter grain go a golden brown, its a beautiful looking wood but apparently a nightmare to work with.

The Model-88 has very well balanced rich tones but alot of people who own them, swap the pick-up for an E.M.G 81 or 85 and I have to admit, I have played a Model-88 with an E.M.G 85 and it explodes!!! Very impressive!!

The Model-88 Importstrings have is in excellent playing condition, almost no ware to the hardware and has 75%+ frets. There is some fine scratching and a laquar only ding to the reverse part on the head, other than that, a VERY NICE used example. If you know anything about buffing and have abit of patience, a buff with a very fine compound will bring this guitar back to like new appearance (This is for the very fussiest person). Overall its in AWESOME playing condition/appearance for a guitar going on 22yrs. As mentioned a very difficult guitar to get hold of and the prize jewel in any Charvel collection. For those of you who always wanted to start up a Charvel collection? What a start this would make. Die hard collectors will know what I mean.

Body : African Ribbon Mahogany
Neck : Reversed Hard Maple
Fingerboard : 22 Jumbo fret,Rosewood w/Mother of pearl Sharkfin inlays
Bridge : Jackson JT-6 locking system
Pick-ups : J-90c Ultra-High output humbucker
Controls : 1 Volume
Hardware Colour : Black
Colour : Dark Sunburst

Charvel Model-3D (Japan Only Model) - $850 - SOLD!!

Filed Under (Charvel, x- SOLD -x) by Importstrings on 14-08-2010

Near new playing condition,scuff/tiny lacquer chips

Importstrings have another Rare!! Charvel. This is the rarely seen mid 1988~89 Model-3D from the last year of production (Model Series). The Model-3D was at the time Charvel’s answer to the Kramer (Japan) LK-EK Series and ESP’s newly designed Mirage, which were MEGA popular. Undoubtedly George Lynch inspired, who was almost “guitar god” like status at the time in Japan.

The Model-3D is a very simple design, the Jackson U.S.A J-90c Ultra-High output humbucker produces ALOT of volume, flick the 3-way toggle and you get very sweet single coil sounds in the neck with the J-100. A CLASSIC 80’s Metal sounding configuration!!. A year later the Model-3D would later be renamed “The Fusion Deluxe” during the Comtemporary Series, another model the 3DR (Reverse head) would become “The Predator”. Because of the inconsistency during the change over, both models have been seen with reverse/regular necks or sometimes a black painted neck. The Model-3D was a one year only product so, there is not a great deal of them, compared to other Model designs.

This Model-3D is in AWESOME playing condition, it has hardly any ware to the hardware, frets are 80%, body front and back are very clean, although there are a few laquar only dings to the side (They dont really stand out due to the metallic blue), and a couple of small nicks to the head. All in all, still an eye catcher and in fantastic playing condition. This would look good in any collection and definitely one for the hardcore Charvel collector. Getting one of these models is quite hard for us to get in ANY condition.

Body : Solid Basswood
Neck : Maple
Fingerboard : 22 Jumbo fret, Rosewood w/dot inlay
Bridge : Jackson JT-6 locking system
Pick-ups : (Front) J-100, (Rear) J-90c Ultra-High output humbucker
Controls : 1 Volume w/3-way toggle selector
Hardware Colour : Black
Colour : Electric Blue

Charvel Model-6/650XL (Japan Only Model) - $1400!! - Sold!!

Filed Under (Charvel, x- SOLD -x) by Importstrings on 10-08-2010

Near new playing condition,scuff/tiny lacquer chip

This is a “VERY RARE JAPAN ONLY” SL-145-SSW (Model-6/650XL) conversion model and very hard to get your hands on!!. Charvel like Kramer and a few other companies at the time, were very inconsistant with production, with some spot models (Shop order models) not appearing in catalogues. The competition with Charvel and Kramer was particularly ferocious, especially in Japan.

In 1989 Charvel released the “New look” Contemporary or Toothpaste models (called this because of the new logo) for the overseas market. Japan from mid 89 ~ mid 90 released many of the same models BUT!!, still using the Model series logo and introducing the newer logo more slowly and with optional order graphics. The model Importstrings have appeared in the JAPAN ONLY 1989 catalogue. The Japanese catalogue also came with a custom order made, price list, specs and blank page, giving the customer/shops the option of body, electrics, graphics etc.. Much like E.S.P today (At a pretty hefty price though!)
The one Importstrings have was a shop order original in PPC (Platinum Painted Crackle) and as mentioned a “conversion model”. Basically what it is, is a Model-6,having the new Contemporary Schallar made FLC-202 or JT590 tremelo instead of the Schallar JT-6 trem and having a 5-way blade pick-up selector opposed to the older 3-way mini toggles (THATS IT!) Body woods and electrics are exactly the same. From mid 90 Japan would release these as the Charvel 650XL and having the Contemporary logo for only one year, just like the export models, Then that was it! The end of the top quality models. Metal wasn’t as popular, the demand wasn’t there, some companies had bitten off more than they could chew and the quality just slipped away.

Charvel (Japan) continued but we would not see REAL QUALITY again untill the mid 2000’s with the awesome Model A, B, C and a cost performance D. Charvel was back, with some top quality instruments, designed with the San Dimas models in mind.

As for the condition? Its in equally amazing condition, all there is, is a 1X (laquar only) mark about 2mm on the underneath of the head and some very light scratching. There is very little ware to the hardware and the frets are 70%+. The electrics as expected sound awesome, VERY smooth with warm tones, overall in amazing condition!!Although descibed as PPC (Platinum) in colour, it appears a very light gold. These Charvels DO NOT come up that often, so if your a collector don’t miss out!! These are real top quality for $$ guitars and a real collectors peice!!

(Note) These guitars run on a 9v battery for the active cicuitry, having a good quality battery is important!!

Body : Poplar
Neck : Quater sawn Rock Maple Thru-neck
Fingerboard : Rosewood w/Sharktooth inlay
Bridge : Schaller FLC-202 locking system
Pick-ups : (Front & Middle) J200 Dual coil, Bi level humbucking (designed for use with active cicuitry), (Rear) J50BC Accentuated High Frequency bridge postioning humbucking (Designed for use with active circuitry)
Controls : 1 Volume, 1 Tone, Jackson low impendence JE-1200 with mid-boost, 5-way blade selector
Hardware Colour : Black
Colour : Platinum Painted Crackle

Charvel Model-6 (Orange Crackle) - $1400 - Sold!!

Filed Under (Charvel, x- SOLD -x) by Importstrings on 16-07-2010

Near new playing condition,scuff/tiny lacquer chip

This is it!!!, It doesn’t come any better than this if your a Model/Toothpaste Series fan!!. A Model-6 in the absolutely stunning “Orange Crackle” graphics. To MANY Charvel fans this is the best Charvel EVER produced, vintage or modern. There has never been anything like this ever made again. Quality for $$$ this outstrips just about everything in its class (Seriously) and the amazing sustain and warmth of the tones, blows ALOT away, even todays guitars!!

As for the condition? Apart from my own exact model in mint, new condition, this is the cleanest one I have EVER seen. The previous owner really looked after it. There are 2x very minor flaws on this guitar, which is a laquar only chip (Not paint) on the tip of the head and really fine scratches on and at one side of the back plate. (This is really common on any used guitar)
There is VERY, VERY little ware and the frets are almost new 95%+. Overall without those 2x very minor flaws you could say,”Mint”. (It still has the plastic on the truss rod cover). Also its quite rare these days to see these older guitars come with an original manual/paperwork.
This particular Model-6 is quite interesting. Most Model-6 come with a JT6/Matching lock mount and nuts, this one is a mixed match, having a JT6 trem/Kahler U.S.A locking mount. This is not uncommon when the 1986 Models phased out their Kahler parts for the newer Jackson original parts, some guitars had mixed parts, even to the extent of having a different coloured neck or a reverse head. To the experienced Charvel fan, you will notice it has a matching colour logo, alot of the crackles come with the normal white logo.

This Model-6 is the very last batch to be made, it starts with a C9(1989)serial no. The Model Series were made from 86-88, by OUR calender but, the Japanese production calender is actually mid 86-mid 89. They release most of their new stuff for Summer or just after April.
Well this is getting way to long AGAIN!, I’ll just add, that if you missed out on one of these in the 80’s heres your chance. The Model-6 is a top quality for $$$ guitar and is on par if not better than todays brands (Charvel/Jackson) included! This is a REAL METAL CLASSIC!!!!

Body : Poplar
Neck : Quater sawn Rock Maple Thru-neck
Fingerboard : Rosewood
Bridge : Jackson JT6 locking system
Pick-ups : (Front & Middle) J200 Dual coil, Bi level humbucking (Designed for use with active cicuitry), (Rear)J50BC Accentuated High Frequency Bridge position humbucking (Designed for use with active circuitry)
Controls : 1 Volume,1 Tone, Jackson low impendence JE-1200 Electronics with mid-boost, 3-way mini toggles
Hardware Colour : Black
Colour : Orange Crackle graphics
Note:The model 4-6 run on a 9v battery its active circuitry and the battery is located in the back under the lower back plate.

An original 1986 Model-2 this is from the first year of production. The Model series ran from 86~88 the 86 Model-2 came with the Kahler Fulcrum Tremlo and the U.S.A made Ultra-High Output J-90, from 87 to 88 they would be produced with the new J-90C(ceramic) pick-ups and Jackson JT6 Tremlo. These guitars have a “HUGE” sound, very bright highs, heavy crunch and awesome harmonics the length of the fingerboard, perfect for Hard Rock/Metal. This guitar is in like new playing condition and loads of fun to play, fretboard is like new has hardly had any ware but, a few dents and scratches front and back(What you would expect for a 23yr old guitar). The model series are REAL quality for $$ guitars and will stack up to today’s guitars anyday!!
